Rating: Summary: My mother would love it. Review: Best book I have seen on authentic Lebanese home cooking. I can still hear my father telling me how to judge the temperature of Laban using ones little finger. It's a Classic! The only real problem with the book is finding it.
Rating: Summary: My mother would love it. Review: Every receipe I have tried results in the same flavor and tastes that I remember from my childhood growing up in Beirut and also my mom's cooking. New agers need to pay attention to the Hummus and Baba Ghannuj receipe to find out what these dishes are supposed to taste like.I found this book a joy and it is the best cook book on the shelf! I have a seventh edition and I buying another copy since the pages are falling out! At the time I bought this there was a spiral comb version not listed here at Amazon.com
Rating: Summary: Excellent Lebanese Cookbook Review: I discovered Madelain Farah's Lebanese Cuisine cookbook almost 20 years ago and use it faithfully. The recipes are so very much like those my beloved Mother and Godmother used. I purchased a copy for each of our three grown children as I consider the book to be a must for anyone who has grown up with authentic Lebanese or Arabic cuisine.

Rating: Summary: Best Lebanese Cookbook Review: I used this book years ago and copied out the recipes then I lost them. I am so happy. I finally found this again. Absolutely the best results from the recipes and I'm not a really good cook. I am very familiar with the traditional Lebanese cooking, having worked in a Lebanese restaurant for years. This is the best I've used and I've tried many Middle Eastern cookbooks.
Rating: Summary: Absolutly the BEST and I have tried several Review: This cook book has been my lifeline since I married into a large Lebanese family. Dining is central part of the Lebanese family experience. This cook book has helped me on many occasions to prepare meals for large family gatherings or for smaller, more informal get togethers. I mostly learned how to cook Lebanese from my sisters-in-law and have reinforced their methods by Ms. Farah's book. Her recipes are very close to those of my in-laws with a few minor differences. They view her recipes as authentic. Some of her recipes have been "Americanized" to accomodate the chef with no access to Arabic spices or a Middle Eastern market. The book offers a wide variety of dishes from appetizers, or 'maza,' to main courses and desserts. I have made most of the entrees and lenten dishes in her book and my husband says it's "almost" as good as his mother's cooking; which is a huge compliment by his standards! The kibbe, kusa maashi, chicken & rice and fasoulia w'riz are among our favorites. The stuffed grape leaves recipe was the only recipe I found that needs some adjustment. The dishes can be prepared with ease due to Ms. Farah's concise, comprehensive style. Most of the recipes are not elaborate and are easy to follow. Lebanese food is not only very tasty, but mostly vegetarian and healthful. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to try to master the art of Lebanese cooking, especially fellow in-laws of Lebanese-American families, such as myself! Advanced Lebanese chefs must try _Fan al Tabakh_ which is the _Betty Crocker_ or _Joy of Cooking_ of the Middle East and is only available in Arabic. However, for us novices Ms. Farah's book is just perfect. Sah'tain!
