Rating: Summary: A taste of cajun life and cooking Review: About 2 months ago I got this book from my girlfriends parents who thought I might like it. I was born and raised in Texas and went to cajun country alot for good food and good times. While reading this book it brought back good memories of fun filled summers of eating crawfish and hanging out with some of the swamp natives in the back woods of New Orleans. I liked how the author shared her family and family photo's with the readers in this book. My girlfriends parents who never have had cajun cooking or have not come accross any rednecks enjoyed this book also.

Rating: Summary: Review from a True Cajun Review: As a deep south girl, who happens to actually live in Louisiana, I was pretty skeptical when we got this book in my store to sell. It did peak my interest, though. On a slow morning, I picked it up and began to read it... I couldn't put it down! Whenever you are cooking in the kitchen or outside with this book, you will be thorughly entertained by the true and hilarious stories and pictures that accompany the recipies. Yes, you will even get a better laugh when you read it and know that a lot of us cajuns are REALLY like that! As for the recipies... tried and true. They are the best in the south and easy to do! You can make authentic cajun dishes even if you don't know how to purge crawdaddys or how to make a roux. It tells you how to do all of these! I am truly proud to say this cajun is impressed.

Rating: Summary: A must see it for yourself! Unique swamp stories & photos Review: This Louisiana cookbook reveals a unique way of life and cooking that even the men in the family would enjoy reading. This book has lots of stories and photographs captured right on the scene of going frogging, catching gators and dodging game wardens. IN THE AUTHOR'S OWN WORDS...."Now if y'all are slap in the middle of a big city where most people have never tasted a mudbug, Gator Stew, or Smothered Frog Legs in their whole lives, it's high time you met the River People. Read this here cookbook and learn how to hunt, catch, cook, and serve up a whole mess of scrumptious fixin's at your next supper party. I'm also going to teach you how to toss up some fancy side dishes like Coonass Coleslaw, Swamped Pork'n'Beans, and Fried Dill Pickles, and to top off the evening with a taste of Wanda's Whiskey Cake. I guarantee that you will impress the heck out of your friends with the uniquely delicious swamp recipes contrived by the River People, because there is no other place on the Good Lord's green earth that seasons critters like we do."
