Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Delightful and thorough
Review: TABLES OF CONTENT is assembled of chapters covering separate parties, given by separate hosts, as part of the New York Public Library's fundraising efforts. Each host proposes a dinner with a literary theme, and then the guests are assigned to the different dinners. The hosts underwrite the events, and the guests pay the library to attend. What these meals have in common is that they all are carefully designed, serving gourmet foods and excellent wines.

One set of guests may find themselves eating Moroccan cuisine in a dining room that has been turned into a tent straight out of Ali Baba. Another group may find that their host has recreated a meal taken directly from the writings of M.F.K. Fisher.

TABLES OF CONTENT takes the best of the best of these parties, and assembles reports on them in this single volume. The book then becomes a blueprint for great parties, and it's also a mouthwatering treat.
