Description:
Joy Davies is a well-traveled and experienced food writer and winner of the Glenfiddich Award for work she did for Harpers & Queen. In 1997, she spent a year exploring the markets and kitchens of the wilder parts of Asia and Central America, including China, Tibet, Sulawesi, and the Amazon basin. This inspired the 50 noodle and pasta recipes in her book. Each is beautifully illustrated with a color photograph, and 10 dishes are shown in step-by-step photographs. Recipes from Southeast Asia--the noodle capital of the world--include Vietnamese Rice Noodle Soup and the spectacular Thai crispy noodle dish Mee Krob. Davies also includes dishes from North America, Europe, and the Middle East. Those she chooses from Australia, such as Rice Noodles with Seared Oysters, are strongly influenced by the East. This is a truly inspirational book with glorious photographs by Simon Wheeler. Companion books are Rice: From Risotto to Sushi and Potatoes. --Amazon.co.uk
