Summary: A wonderful addition to your home collection
Review: This book is described well on the cover, "A Celebration of Motherhood and Old-Fashioned Cooking". My children loved the cookie recipes, and some of the poems, particularly Riley's "Tale of a Brooch". And, from Jane's own family, "Spring Thaw: A Tale About Foxes". My husband loved the Layered Meat Loaf, and Home Cured Ham in Milk recipes. And the Crowd Pleasing Apple Dessert recipe was perfect for Thanksgiving, it is like an apple pie that serves 20 or more. It's a good recipe to use if you're a beginner and need to make several pies. We enjoyed the flower drying instructions, and the salad recipes. This is a good book to give a new mother or one that needs a little direction. It makes me miss the days when parents took more time to teach their children about respect, kindness and loyality. This book teaches about values in a way that makes you want to read aloud to a child or bake something for an elderly neighbor. I give it five stars.
