Rating: Summary: Delicious, mouth-watering apple recipes! Review: "The Bayfield Apple Festive Apple Cookbook and Almanac" is a very unique and regional apple cookbook. This apple cookbook was inspired by the annual Bayfield Apple Fesitival held every autumn since 1961. The festival celebrates the local apple harvest. Apple orchard growers put all of their favorite apple products on display. All products are put up for sale and there are plenty of samples to go around. That is why these recipes are so mouth-watering delicious. They are time-honored traditional recipes. Baked and stuffed pork chops with apples, apple pies and carmel apples are just some of my favorites. Of course all recipes call for Bayfield apples. But New York, Michigan and Washington apples will have to suffice for those who cannot get the coveted Bayfield apple varieties. Maybe I'm partial to these apples because of my local roots, but I think this cookbook will compliment any chef's collection of cookbooks. Additional Lake Superior facts, legends and lore are spread throughout the book. This gives the cookbook extra tidbits of information from the region otherwise unknown. This apple cookbook does not contain professional photographs of the finished product. Just straight recipes utilizing years of experienced traditional recipes. This book is in its third printing. I recommend purchasing this cookbook just for the classic apple pie recipe. (Served with or without cheese on top.) Enjoy!
