Summary: Lots of charm
Review: This is a charming little book with family type recipes and folklore. Some of the recipes are not beginner friendly. They lack specific amounts or detailed instructions. The Dropped Sugar Cookies did not turn out well for me-I had to rework the recipe to make them good. This booklet has "recipes" for (the italics are there because inexperienced cooks may struggle with the amounts to make the recipes work) Crab Cakes, rolls & biscuits, Chicken Pie, Brunswick Stew, and Lemon Pie Cake to name a few. There are really just 2 crafts in the book, one with gourds. There are 6 empty pages in the back, supposedly for your own heirloom recipes. I would have rather had more crafts etc. What's in the book is enjoyable and fun to read. Lots of folklore is included.
