Summary: Delicious, quick & healthy recipes -- A Gem of a Cookbook!
Review: "My Grandmother's Table" is a wonderful book. It is so much more than a cookbook of easy-to-prepare delicious and low-fat foods.

The cookbook section is divided into several main food categories such as "Family Favorites" (I love the Vegetable Lasagna), "Salads and Dressings" (the Macaroni Salad with diced chicken is out of this world!), and "Side Dishes and Vegetables" (the Spicy Chick-Peas added to any fish or chicken main course turns it into an exotically sumptuous feast -- and yet it's so easy to make!). Of course there are other mouth-watering and savory sections such as "Soups", "Sauces" and "Desserts".

What I like most about the cookbook section -- aside from the delicious results -- is the layout of each recipe. Complete with a full color picture of the menu item, each recipe lists all the ingredients and equipment that has to be used in the preparation so that I know up front what I need to begin the journey. Then the time to prepare the food is broken down into stages, so I can determine exactly how long it will take for active preparation (such as cutting and mixing) and how much time I simply need to let it cook.

At the end of each recipe is a per serving nutritional analysis of each food for health-conscious families.

There are also lots of helpful hints within each recipe about which foods are easily stored in the freezer for later use, and which foods can be substituted to make for even lower fat courses.

In addition to the wonderful cookbook section, there are chapters of the book that show you how to figure out your daily fat gram intake, as well as information on exercise, sugar, and fat. There's a helpful pantry list of items to stock, and valuable hints on cooking any kind of food.

This book is highly recommended -- It is a treasure to read, and to use!
