Rating: Summary: The Best Book Ever Written About Food and Drink Review: This is a collection of articles published over many years in many magazines covering all aspects of food and drink. It's terrific reading by a gifted writer and gourmand. If you neglect to read the introduction, you'll not be aware that this man was blind and had a gift for appreciating food something like perfect pitch to the ear, along with total recall of food sampled over his entire lifetime. I used to own this book, and it was one of my prized possessions, but I lent it out to a lady who later developed Altzheimer's Disease. You can guess what happened. If you like Gourmet magazine, the restaurant reviews of the NYT, MFK Fisher, and good food and drink, I challenge you not to like this book. If I ever find another copy, it won't be lent out. It reads well over time.
