Rating: Summary: A must for household management! Review: I discovered this out of print book at the Half Price Bookstore in Houston, Texas several years ago. It was published in 1980, during hard economic times. It has been a tremendous reference for me, and now I am searching for a copy for my just married daughter. The book is a gold mine of practical information, recipes and advice for those seeking to stretch each food budget dollar to the max. Chapter 1, "Shopping Savvy" is a fantastic tool for anyone who is just starting to plan meals for a household. I constantly refer to the "Calendar of Seasonal Buys" in Chapter 3. The book is written as a checklist. It also contains recipes that should be in any cook's file. The recipes can transform the basic pantry of ingredients into a gourmet's cabinet. I can't wait to find another copy for my daughter, because I just won't release my treasure!
