Review: Wow! A book about empanadas was just what I was looking for. The delicious South American meat pies have always been serious "comfort food" with me. The authors did a great job of presenting the history of the empanada and included many delicious sounding variations of fillings. What bothered me was that the ingredients in the pastry receipt were far from ,"low-salt, low-fat" as promised. To make 8 - 10 disks of dough it called for 1/4 lb (1 stick) of butter or margarine as well as 1/4 lb (4 ozs) cream cheese! Boo-hoo! I love empanadas but feel that the receipt for the dough given in this book would surely make delicious empanadas, but would be fattening and high in fats. I hope the authors update the little empanada book, and include alternative receipts for the dough.
