Summary: WELL, THE POETRY IS NICE...
Review: I found this "coffee table" type book to be a huge let-down. The country harvest is mainly of things that aren't very practical: leaves, seedheads and rushes, cordials, country wines, chutneys, vinegars, etc. I really don't have any use for recipes like Carrot Conserve or Japanese Quince Jelly. Maybe you do. It's a large-sized book, and you would expect the photos to be nice, but they are mostlty giant, blurry pictures of vases of flowers or unappetizing things in bottles and jars. It's a very British book, so perhaps this appeals more to them?? I don't know. I don't think that autumn in Britain is the same as autumn in America. We have such vivid tree colors here (in the Northeast, at least), that autumn is a beautiful time of year. Perhaps that explains the lack of good photos?? No offense to the British, just to each his own, that's all...

Interspaced throughout the book are snippets of poetry about autumn. These were the only parts of this book that I enjoyed.
