Summary: Authentic, no frills recipes
Review: I've owned this book since it was first published and have had great pleasure in using it for the past 20 years. This doesn't qualify as a "coffee table" book under any stretch of the imagination, having no illustrations and very few colour photos.

What it does have, however, are authentic, well researched recipes that work every time. Ms Boxer's personal notes accompanying every recipe are evocative in some places and informative at the very least.

This book is one of my favourites and I'd love to get a copy for my Mediterranean/American best friend, but sadly this wonderful book is currently out of print.
