Rating: Summary: No, not the best . . . Review: I?m a food person, I love pasta, and I often am short of time to do much cooking, so this book seemed like a natural for me: 80-odd pages of recipes designed to be put together in the time it takes to actually boil the pasta. The instructions include detailed instructions, good illustrations, and by-the-way comments on preparation of ingredients. The problem is, you have to maintain a significant stock of ingredients you?re unlikely to use otherwise (or I am, anyway), like capers, pine nuts, prosciutto, heavy cream, and Gorgonzola. Also, many of the ingredients, like asparagus and shrimp, are supposed to be fresh -- so how are you supposed to keep them handy? Finally, while there are some interesting recipes in this collection, some are downright wierd: I mean, fresh figs, cream, and vodka?
Rating: Summary: The best little pasta book Review: This is absolutely the best pasta book I have ever found. I do a lot of cooking and like to experiment with different recipes. This book is invaluable whether you are an experienced cook or a beginner. There are wonderful photos of the finished dish as well as step by step photos. It also contains descriptions of the various types of pasta and sauces which pair well with each type. The instructions are clear and easy to understand and give reasons why you do things a certain way or why certain ingredients are used. This would make an excellent gift for a pasta lover or cook.
Rating: Summary: The best little pasta book Review: Well, they generally take quite a few minutes more than the five that is promised, but they're also worth it. These recipies are healthy and, better yet, very flavorful. The instructions are straightforward, and the pictures of the finished product are definitely motivating! We're a busy, time-pressed and fairly fussy NYC couple who would much rather order takeout than boil water. But nevertheless, this book gets used quite a lot. We think that's saying something. Try it today
