Review: The tempting, tasty, and tried recipes from the French Kitchen Series are presented as appealingly as they are served with marvelously colorful illustrations by Nadine Wickenden. This tidy volume contains some 30 of the author's favorite dishes from the simple to the elegant. A stellar knife-and-fork stew, Garbure, is my personal favorite in this collection. Frozen peas are fit for royalty when prepared with lettuce leaves and chicken stock, as are mushrooms, pan fried to golden then dashed with herbs.
