Review: Imagine my surprise when my book club, after finishing Tolstoy and Murakami, moved on to this book. Could "Recipes for the Chemotherapy Patient" possibly be in the same class as those great books? Could Bernat's oft-imitated prose move me to the degree that those great authors did? Yes, and yes. Not only is the backdrop of sweeping historical romance deftly detailed, but the characters are well-drawn and exciting. In addition, I have never read a book which gives so many mouth-watering ways to prepare chemotherapy patients!
