Rating: 5 stars
Summary: america in africa
Review: In this work, the author examines the history of Liberia in the nineteenth century. In doing so, the author argues that the political, economic, and religious institutions of Liberia in the nineteenth century were largely extensions of those in America even though the colony and later state of Liberia was established by free or emancipated blacks and slaves recaptured on the high seas by the United States Navy. This is an excellent work in an area where little research has been done. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to get an understanding of the United States relation to the African nation of Liberia and why Liberia is different from other Afircan nations.
