Rating: Summary: Just something to consider. Review: I purchased this guide recently, and don't feel I got my money's worth. It is a valuable tool, yet most of the information contained within is already listed on websites like wwww.l2orphus.com. There are multiple typing errors - some paragraphs aren't even complete, and it appears whole sections are missing, - like in the Dark elf section they don't even discuss the Shillen Knights in depth like they do the rest of the other class choices. To correct; it isn't discussed at all. Though overall I guess these details could be labeled minor - I still don't think this is worth the money so look around before you buy it I am sure you will be able to find the same information online, for free.
Rating: Summary: not great Review: This book has some general tips and information. there is no in depth information concerning quests, maps, or anything that is really useful in playing the game. I wouldnt waste my money on it if i had to do over again.
Rating: Summary: What a dissapointment... Review: This is my first review on Amazon. That aside, let me get this clear:
I normally am very impressed with Prima's Strategy guides.
That out of the way, this book is horrible. A joke. A mockery. Entire paragraphs are paraphrased OR copied word for word from one class to another! They don't EVEN change a word to make it more personalized. This is not some general comment. I can back it up with specific references if need be.
Also, it contradicts itself very very often. For example, it may say that a class exceeds in several areas, specifically its speed, attack speed, and magic resist. However, in the next paragraph, it will mention, "however keep in mind that do to your slow run speed you should avoid..." Uhh..durr....
Sentences often trail to an end mid-statment. The dwarves class tips are a joke, there are not even any tips on the Elf Wizard, and at LEAST 3 other classes that I cannot recall the names of at the moment but I know they are missing. All 3 archer classes (Hawkeye, Silver Ranger, and the DE Equivalent) are almost exact copies of one another, with maybe 1 paragraph different.
This book is ONLY good for referencing the lists of skills (which it is superb at) and maps for a few dungeons, but not all! This guide would disgust any mediocre L2 fan, and anyone new to the game will be dissapointed at no maps for any starter town. A lot of mispellings as well. A LOT.
A side note: I understand that most strategy guides for on-line play cannot be expected to be accurate when describing actual strategy for in-game actions. However, this guide does not even hit the target close. The author(s) seem to love referring to different classes with one phrase to sum them up. I.E. Hawk Eye being the best siege archer, the Silver Ranger being the best kiting archer... pretty true in this example, though the difference is miniscule, however the descriptions of many other classes leave much to be desired.
You can definetly tell what classes the author(s) played. Read through the Orc class descriptions and tips. It is full to the brim. Then read the Elf Mystic, Elf Fighter, Dwarf, or pretty much even Dark Elf or Human pages. It is empty and copied and pasted from each other. The Dwarf description is laughable! One paragraph to describe a 40-70 class?!?!
One thing is clear, this book was RUSHED and quality was thrown out the window because of it. Prima editors must have been on vacation for the week.
To sum up, this guide is good for referencing skill lists for the classes. Anything else, and this book is a waste of hard earned adena, err, money.
Thanks
Alan
