Rating: Summary: The Complete Guide to Prime Time Network and Cable TV Shows Review: The best ever!! Tried to stump the book with obscure TV shows and everyone was listed. Goes by alphabetical order and with calendars of all the years from 1946 to the 2003. You'll never forget who appeared in what. Alot of detail on each show. As soon as I looked thru it, I was sorry I hadn't had this book for years. The best TV reference book you can have.
Rating: Summary: The bible for vidiots! Review: The best reference book about TV shows I have ever read. Also contains a reasonably detailed history of the development of television and how TV programming has evolved over the decades. The book "Total Television" may contain more titles, but it's nowhere near as in-depth as this one! I recommend it without reservation. Paula Martin
Rating: Summary: Arguably the best TV reference work ever! Review: The information contained in this book is astounding. I can't tell you how many times I have consulted this book whenever we see an actor on a TV show and wonder, "Where have we seen him/her before?" Rarely has that question not been answered in the pages of this book. I've bought the last four editions, and have a "hand-me-down chain" well established: my sister gets the second-most-recent edition, and she passes the previous one onto her son-in-law.Inaccuracies? With the volume of television information out there, there are bound to be small mistakes here and there. The authors encourage readers to submit corrections to the book, and I myself have done so. (In fact, my name appears in the acknowledgments page of this edition as having contributed a correction.) Out-of-date information? This book is only updated once every three to four years (to update it more often would be cost-prohibitive), and the last revision was in 1999. The publication information on the Amazon.com item page clearly says this, and the book's introduction also gives the "official" cut-off date for updated information. The next edition should be just around the corner. My library would not be complete without this book, and I will, without hesitation, be buying the next edition as soon as it hits the shelves.
Rating: Summary: ITS THE TELEVISION BIBLE, PLAIN AND SIMPLE Review: There are a lot of different movie and film guides out there, but for television there is only one you will ever need and it is this one. i cannot recall when I bought my first copy, back in the late 1980's I think. In the office I worked in for over 10 years in the 1990's my co-worker had one that he kept in his desk, always ready to settle and argument with or come up with the answer to a trivia question no one could remember about a TV show.
Laid out in alphabetical order, you'll get when each show premiered and ended, casts, description of the show, and quite often little-know tidbits of information that you never knew before. I mean..where else can you find information about "Captain Nice?"
Add to that expanded coverage of cable television shows, top rated shows by season, programming grids by year, emmy Award Winners, Trivia questions, websites...and you truly have an indispensible guide to television. Only problem is that in a few more years your going to need a truck to take this massive book home in. Wonderful book!
Rating: Summary: Always The Best Review: There is no better compulation of show info anywhere. The first issue I ever owned was #2 and over the years, the info has gotten better and better. Growing up, my brothers and I were always using this book as a constant resource for tv trivia contest, and many countless hours of entertainment. This will be my fourth edition I have purchased, and I hope it won't be my last.
Rating: Summary: A great and entertaining resource Review: This book is a great resource for anyone in the entertainment industry, and a fun and fascinating reference for anyone who loves television. It's very hard to put down.
Rating: Summary: The 7th edition is totally outdated. Review: This book is completely outdated. Will there be an 8th edition?
Rating: Summary: one thing i would like to be added Review: this book is great for tv buffs it brought back alot of memories from my past and present. there is only one thing that could make this book better and what i would like to see added is a list of each episode by name or at least something stating how many episodes were made for each show listed like for example "kolchak:the night stalker" (20 episodes),other than that the book is a bible of the tv and cable world.oh yeah also what would make it better is if a new edition was put out each year instead of the wide gap in years between editions so this way it is more up to date and accurate of the current times.
Rating: Summary: Best Print Source For General TV Information Review: This book is one of the best print source for background information on TV shows. Those of you that contact me through the internet asking questions on shows, well, this is the first source I consult. The only thing lacking is a notation on the number of episodes for the programs. This is usually one of the basic questions on a TV affectionado's mind. I'd suggest that this be added in the 8th Edition. Buy the book! It is worth it and compliments your internet searches. Regards,
