Rating: Summary: One of the few comic books you actually need to have. Review: Those of us who have been following the online version of Sinfest for a long time can attest how damn good this comic is. It's daring. It's controversial. It's about good and evil and everything that follows. It doesn't pretend to be PG or PC in any way. It's definitely not a strip you could see on your newspaper anytime soon, and that's why it is great.Tatsuya Ishida's masterful, pulse-perfect drawing style remininsces of anime, Calvin and Hobbes and Family Circus all rolled into one. Even if you're not an anime fan, it is hard not to like the strip. Together with their incendiary, heat-turning plots and edgy characters, this is the comic for anyone who, despite having to live in "the system", still keeps the soul of a rebel alive in the inside.
Rating: Summary: Ishida ROCKS Review: Webcomics are the emerging free media of the new mellinium. freedom from synication allows them to be as off color, off beat, and cover all kinds of touchy subjects. he provides interesting philosophical commentary on our society, and his humor is consistantly fresh and funny. his style is unique, and this is definatly a comic for those who grew up reading Calvin&Hobbes. To quote another webcomic artist "[sinfest is] to sharp for the syndicates as a double-edged carbon steel Katana is to sharp for baby's crib"
Rating: Summary: The print version of (IMHO) the best web comic strip Review: Yes, as the previous reviewer noted, Sinfest does owe quite a bit to the strips that have passed before it (including - and not mentioned on his list - Bloom County / Outland). First, I'll start with the potential downsides: 1) this is probably not a good strip for the kiddies; I would rate it "hard-PG13" for occasional swearting and sexual innuendo. 2) There is an inconsistency of style that is a little wierd - frankly, there should be two separate strips: one for the "cutesy stuff" like the strips featuring Percival and Pooch (so I can e-mail them to my grandma, etc) and one for the wittier, more intellectual, and frequently naughtier topics. That said, buy it, read it, laugh yourself silly. But don't just take my word for it... you can read the latest and greatest at sinfest dot net. Try it, you'll like it!
Rating: Summary: The best comic ever! Review: [This much money] for a comic strip book? Don't let that stop you from buying Sinfest. Every single strip contains great artwork and a hilarious punchline. The lovable (and detestable) characters are well-developed enough for a normal story, and the plotlines (and occasional random blabberings) are extremely well structured. A high price, granted, but definitely worth every penny.
