Summary: "Rummie" Gets Even
Review: This is a rip-roaring book of poetry from the always trenchant lips of Donald H. Rumsfeld, our Secretary of Defense and sometimes Zen master and kitchen poet. If you've tuned "Rummie" in during one of his press conferences, you'll recognize the stamp of an extraordinary, original thinker. These encounters have been gathered by editor Hart Seely, something of a poet himself. Truth to be told, some of the poems are retreads of previous poems in the book, but that's okay because what Rummie has to say -- and the way that he says it -- is worth repeating.
And Rumsfeld gets his turn at the "microphone."

My son gave me this book for Father's Day, and having just finished it I say again: Thank you.

Summary: more leftist garbage
Review: This is just more of the same self-indulgent and fatuos BS from the far left. Pass it up at your earliest convenience.

Summary: Move over e.e.cummings and hart crane
Review: This is one of the most important books of the year, any year. Not only are the poems excellent stylistically, meaning the form in which they are presented, but they are excellent both esoterically and exoterically. Knowing that Rumsfeld is a disciple of the late great German philosopher Leo Strauss (1899-1973) and knowing that Strauss often used a hermeneutic (i.e. a method of interpretation), in this case, attributing great significance to the number of verses, the number of lines in each verse, and the actual copyright date of the book, one can find enjoyment beyond the ken of the average reader.
A good example would be the verse about the Knowns and the Unknowns. By counting the number of "k's" in the verse and dividing that number by the number of lines of verse on page 15 one can extrapolate the latitude and longitude of the actual place in Iraq where the weapons of mass destruction lie buried. Coincidence? I think not.
I have ordered a dozen of these books for Christmas presents. I hope I receive one for Christmas as well.

Summary: We loved it!!!!!!!!!
Review: We just bought the book recently. We couldn't put it down. The introduction and notes by Hart Seely were well researched and Mr. Seely is obviously a very gifted writer. In fact, they were as interesting as the poetry of Mr. Rumsfeld. We can only hope that this is not the last we hear from Hart Seely!! We are buying more copies for our friends and family.

Summary: you're missing the point entirely
Review: You REALLY think Hart Seely is a republican? Come on. This book is one of the most brilliantly subversive digs at the Bush administration there's been. And it's as funny as Jack Handy -- actually, funnier. 'Cos Rummy's stuff isn't made up; these are the actual words of one of the most powerful men in the world.

Get it? Funny.

p.s.: my favorites are "Muscles", "Night at Camp David", and "Rappin' 'Bout My 'Tude."
