Rating: Summary: Of course its not for kids Review: Come on, look at the title, how many other "teen" books have you seen with the words "melancholy" and "death" in them? No one is marketing this as a teen book. Please don't let the last reviewer's ignorance dissuade you, this is a great book for anyone with a love of Tim Burton's aesthetic and wry humor. I would suggest the other edition (in black) because it's a great looking book...
Rating: Summary: He does it again. Review: I bought this when it first came out but never thought to review it...hmmmmmmm....I guess I will. One word...actually 2 maybe 3...Macabre, brilliant, dark, funny. Ok that was 4 but who's counting. The book was awesome, Tim Burton does it once more. Buy this book, buy this book, buy this book!

Rating: Summary: Dark Humor: A Great addition to a Tim Burton Collection Review: I just bought this book for a friend of mine; we share an odd sense of humor, and an odder appreciation for humor of the darker shades...I have added it to my wish list, and hope to see it under the Christmas tree, this year. However, fair warning...If you are unfamiliar with Mr. Burton's world, and are thinking this would be a great kids' book, then please read through a few of the stories & poems, before buying the book. Or, you could just pay attention to the title: Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy. This does not really lead one to thoughts of a standard Christmas story, in my opinion. The title is really a good indicator of the humor found within. If you can find humor in the odd, and the macabre, ala Gorey's Ashly Crumb Tinies, then you will enjoy this book. If you are looking for just another Christmas bedtime story for you five year old, please put this book back on the shelf, pick up "The Nihgt Before Christmas", and save yourself a little shock. Then after you've read your child to sleep with sugar plumb visions, come back to this book.
Rating: Summary: Stainboy . . . is my favorite Review: I love Tim Burton and this little book is beautiful, funny, and brilliant. I look forward to more. I never get tired of reading the characters and their stories. This isn't a book for teens; it's for everyone who can appreciate it and love it.
Rating: Summary: macabre humour for a "gorey" mind Review: immediately laughed and fell in love with this book. if you like black lipstick or nail polish, the cure or beetlejuice, this one's for you. it gets four stars only because it was much too short.
Rating: Summary: oddly creative genius Review: immediatly upon picking up the book, i was amused by the unique drawings and writings. it is truly representative of tim burton's genius and easily enjoyed by all those with an off-beat, artistic personality.while it primarily contains brief writings concerning christmas themes, this book can certainly be enjoyed throughout the year. i strongly recommend this book, although it may not be for everyone's liking.

Rating: Summary: I loved this book... my friends will get it for Christmas! Review: The book isn't near thick enough for me, for I laughed out loud and wanted to continue turning the pages to yet another bolt of humor... the drawings are great. Sweet yet sick in a happy kind of way. Thank you Tim Burton for helping me keep my brain wide open and childlike in my creative thinking! I have purchased 3 Oyster Boy books for Christmas presents.
Rating: Summary: Duh...it's Tim Burton! Review: The poetry itself is Dr. Seuss-quality (i.e. simplistic and rhyming), but that's not the appeal of this book. Get it for Tim Burton's macabre sense of humor and his quirky artwork. It's tons of fun!
