Summary: Read Rock This
Review: On a scale from 1 to 5, this book would receive a 4.5 because of humor and creativity on the part of Chris Rock. As I read this book, I continued to have sudden burst of laughter because of the humor in this book. Anyone who likes Chris' comedy routine and wants to understand the background behind the jokes or just needs a funny piece of literature this book is perfect for you. This book deals with the issues of society such as a black leader, or racism and the occasional addiction to bubble wrap. The book's humor at times can be raw and inappropriate to some age groups who are not mature enough to handle some of the topics discussed in the book. However, the reason this did not receive a perfect score because the extreme use of profanity, although this is expected of by Chris Rock. I do not condone the use of extreme profanity but its use in the book was warranted, but there are other appropriate word substitutions in many situations in this book. If you liked the books Bernie Mac on How Life is "I ain't Scared of You", or "You know you still Ghetto" you'll love this book.

Summary: Hilarious
Review: Please buy this book, whoever you are.
This was absolutely one of the funniest books I have ever read, and every time I go back to reread it I still laugh. It's still funny after several years! I even quote it on a regular basis. Everyone finds this book funny who looks at it. Chris Rock is brilliant and hysterical, but more importantly, he's a good person. I'm hoping he will do a more personal book with more information about himself in it, more insights, but for pure comic value this is gold. Yes, you will be familiar with some of the jokes if you've seen his routines: but who cares? As I've said, the jokes just get funnier and funnier. I read it in college and found it hysterical and now I pick it up and so does my husband and we still laugh about it.

Summary: Buy the DVD!
Review: So you like Chris Rock, and you have your favorite skit memorized. Whether it's OJ (I'm not saying he killed her, but I understand...), spousal abuse (I would never hit a woman, but I'd sure shake the sh*t out of her...), or any other thing he's done in stand-up, it's going to be in this book. That's exactly the problem! This is not the story of Chris Rock, nor is it anything new from him. It is simply a rehash of all his stand-up in this one cash cow of a book that lacks any and all originality. Skip the poorly written and edited book and buy the "Bring the Pain" DVD and you'll be much happier.

Summary: Craziest Comedian
Review: There is nothing to say about this book but that it makes you laugh at every joke that is printed inside this book on the pages. There is no doubt that this book will give you at least 10 laughs by the time the book is finished. If you missed all the other videos or performances of Chris Rock, well get ready to Rock This!

Summary: Rock This!
Review: This collection of Chris Rock's select stand-up material is pretty funny--he tells it like it is with such simple frankness that it's hilarious. His observations cut right down to the bone, and gives the life's nitty-gritty to you without B.S.

There's something in here to offend everybody...he says so much that I couldn't get away with...and I can't believe HE does.

He writes commentaries on what he doesn't like...but it's all so frank and true that it won't strike you as a rant; it'll just be hilarious.
