Summary: You will love it or hate it!!!
Review: Everyone who is a friend of Elves should buy this book, it contains everything you should or even must know about them. Everyone who has a problem with Elves - mostly players who have Dwarfen charakters - should forget the existence of this book, it would only upset him. Sure, this book can change the balance between the races, giving Elven charakters more advantages. But most rules are optional, no DM has to acept them. But in my oppinion, there would be nothing wrong in making the Elven race stronger, if you have 100 years time to learn something a Human has to learn in 20 years, guess who will be better! And, many Elves faces big problems everywhere: Many Humans, Dwarfes and evil Humanoids hate Elves and many DM don't forget this fact and let you pay for being a Elf. So there is nothing wrong if the Elves have some other advantages, given by this fine handbook, to compensate there weaknesses.

Summary: This Book truly covers every detail of elven life
Review: I have Most of the "complete" books, and out of all of the race books I fell that this is the best put together. It includes time lines and specific references of how the elves differ frow world to world. I also goes into detial on how elven daily life is, including marrage, myths, customs, holydays family life. It also has many unique skills, spells, kits and other equipment. This book truly opens the gateway to elven life!!!

Summary: Very useful if you are playing with elves
Review: I loved the text and info, but the pictures were a little incorrect. The only thing wrong with the text was saying that elves eat meat. They do not eat meat. They are vegitarians!!!! But over all, this is a good book=]:-)>

Summary: Good But We Didn't Need The Myths
Review: I thought this was one of the best handbooks that htey have written. It gives great information on different types of elves, but did we really need the stories about famous elves? But all in all it was a good book with great subject matter especially on the subject of kits and how the elves live.

Summary: It is a great addition to any collection
Review: it is a great addition to any collection, I should know I currently own over 50 AD&D books, but back to this book. I read it for 2-3 weeks and learned a lot about the elves, there customs, and other facts that are important in any campaign involving these ancient and hidden creatures

Summary: Perfect for tree huggin' daisy munchers
Review: Now, don't get me wrong, it's not that I dislike the pointy eared little freaks, but let's face facts. D+D elves are short. They use 6' longbows. Do the math. This is an excellent book to use to make your favorite tree huggin daisy muncher more powerful. There is some very good information on elven society, culture, and even physiology. However, there are only two good things in the book as far as I'm concerned: the experience point penalty for bein a point ear, and the spellfilcher kit. Mages have always made the best thieves. It's just a shame you have to enjoy chewing dandelions to be one.

Summary: The author was a elf
Review: That was what i and a fellow DM/player thought. Many things suggested really tip the balance in the favor of the elves.

From the basic meditation sleep, to the incredible elven archer. The author also suggests removing the level cap for elves(!) and doubling the xp needed.

Now as we all know, elven archers have mastery, dex, strength, magic arrow, magic bow and elven bonuses. This comes up to +4 to +19. The penalties to hit suggested by the book to balance the increased number of attacks are pretty useless in light of this. With a haste spell (1 year to an elf, so?). Attacks go up to 8. Try with an Articus Melee Manager. Contrast with a human fighter in terms of damage.

The bladesinger is another poor balanced class. Less so than the elven archer but...

All in all, you can get this book for information about elven lives(long and winding discourse) but think long and hard about any of the special abilities suggested.

Summary: Best of all books ever written for AD&D
Review: The best book ever written for the AD&D game. Complete thorough with the rituals of elven life. New spells and kits to make the most of your elven character. The only dissapiont was there was very little information on the drow

Summary: Archer TO WEAK, Blademaster too strong
Review: The book as ok i guess. Im really not into all of the elaborate rituals and things like that. I just wana play the game and roleplay to the best of my ability, this helps alittle i wll give it that. The archer i thought was too weak. It when standing still co uld attack at 3/1 but it NEVER IMPROVED, archers need to be able to fire more arrows as they advance. The blademaster is supposed to be a Fighter/Mage. They don't describe the mage part ATALL. Also the fighter is VERY strong. It is like a BUFFED UP fighter and a normal mage together in 1 class! (cheap if u ask me). Also it dosent give what hd u should roll or what experience table they use. I guess it was ok but lacked details like these
