Summary: Excellent value for money
Review: Having played a very average game of chess on and off for many years, I realised that I was not improving my chess and bought this book. I found it excellent value for money, and it really gave me new insight into the finer rules, tactics and strategies. Being of middle age and having eyes that are getting older, I first compared similar books such as the "Dummies" and "The Complete Idiot's" introductory books on chess, and then decided on this one because of the easy-to-read format. The chess diagrams are large and clear, and so are the letter size and general page layout. In addition the chess notations are all in bold print. The information is presented clearly and lucidly, and the book's writing style is also aimed at younger readers so that my young son will also be able to read it - and all this at a very reasonable price. I can strongly recommend this introductory book, not only for beginners but also for the player who wishes to refresh and upgrade his/her chess knowledge and improve his/her game.
