Summary: It was kinda a nice book....
Review: This book was pretty interesting. It involved a Death Knight (one of the best Villan if you ask me) who is trying to get back to Krynn, the place he is from. He was one of the original Villans of the War, and is looking for the soul of the Dark Knight woman, whose name I forget, and ends up in Baronita. You will love this book if you are just in it for the killing and evil of this guy!

Summary: Lord Soth in Ravenloft
Review: This is a good dark fantasy novel. It is more or less an original story, except that it is based on the "Dungeons and Dragons" role playing game. If you don't know anything about the games, that's fine; reading this book will not need any prior knowledge. Lord Soth is a corrupt knight who gets transported from Kyryan to Barovia, a place of gothic evil and demons. His adventure is a lot of fun to read. Lord Soth himself is actually an interesting charactor, he's conflicted with actually tring to do the right thing; or more correctly, the less wrong thing. This is a light read that you'll enjoy and finish pretty quickly.

Summary: Strahd a wimp, Soth an idiot. What gives?
Review: This is a terrible novel. Strahd and Soth behave in ways totally contradictory to their characters as established in the novels in which they first appeared. Soth, especially, loses his appeal as a tragic figure, a valiant knight who allowed his passions to overwhelm him. In the Dragonlance series, he laments his undead torment and yearns for the warrior woman Kitiara as the wife he lost, for she is the only person strong enough to deal with him. In Knight of the Black Rose, he is a wantonly vicious and cruel monster who seeks only personal power and damnation for Kitiara(!). When given the opportunity for redemption--of which Soth has dreamed for 300 years--is offered, he refuses it for no good reason. Strahd, on the other hand, appears quite weak in the face of Soth's power, despite the fact that he has faced many powerful enemies (including Azalin the lich, a far more powerful foe than Lord Soth, much as I like Soth) and defeated them all through his keen intellect. Rather than a dance of intrigue between two towers of evil power, we are treated to Strahd making arrogant speeches but, in the end, basically bending over and taking whatever Soth dishes out. I want tragic Soth and confident Strahd, not foolish Soth and wussy Strahd. Do yourself a favor: if you want to see careful, guarded intrigue between two powerful evil figures, read I, Strahd: The War Against Azalin.

Summary: A top meeting between two powers
Review: This is definitely one of the best books i've read on ravenloft sagas. It reminds me a little bit the "HIT" movie where two proffesional stars meet in the top of the top. Lord soth recieves here his final peace at last. if you thought nothing can defeat him, here is your chance to withness his defeat buy somthing more powerfull. To tell you the truth, as i finished reading this book, i felt a little sorrow for the black rose night. he started as a great avatar in the arena of dragonlance and suddenly finds himself disconnected from the world he knew. give this book a shot and you wont be sorry.

Summary: Shocking!!
Review: This is one of the better Ravenloft books I've read, which really recounts a better part of the characters lives. A great storyline which provides a lot of detail and wanted explanation into the Dark Domains, and how Lord Soth came to visit this place. The undertermined fierceness of the dark lords is interesting as well, as they both clash in a stand-off. The ending will surprise you

Summary: A good story about Lord Soth's appearance in Ravenloft
Review: This story is a well written work and a must read for any fan of Ravenloft, as one of it's most interesting and elusive dark lords, Lord Soth, makes his entrance to Ravenloft and forges the alliances and rivalries that are an integral part of this cursed land's history.

Summary: Good - Not Great, but Good
Review: This was my first Ravenloft novel, and, while not great, it was good enough to make me go out and buy the first book in the series, Vampire of the Mists. I especially appreciate Jim Lowder taking the time to go back to study Test of the Twins for the prologue and various other parts of the book - probably a lot of other authors wouldn't have taken the time, and would have ended screwing something up. It's not quite the Lord Soth I remember from DragonLance, though. He seems to caring for a death knight who went through so much pain and suffering in the first two DragonLance trilogies (which serve as an excellent prologue to this book and which I Highly recommend)! A few minor contradictions, but overall well written. -Embe
