Rating: Summary: An outstanding Movie Review: I have just recently seen the movie Pearl Harbor. It gives me in great detail how this tragic event was. Pearl Harbor was an excellent movie! Although, there were parts of it that you ask yourself, "If only she would had told Danny (Josh Hartnett) that she was pregnant, do you think he would have gone to attack Japan as Top Secret Information." This movie makes you wonder if you can really love two men at the same time. By the way Kate Bekinsale loved Ben Affleck, then Josh Harnett, then Ben AfflecK. I thought it was a great romantic movie.
Rating: Summary: NOT BAD Review: If you enjoyed the movie you should enjoy this book. This is a great go-along-item to the film. There is plenty of information and a lot of photographs. Get a chance to reflect on the times.
Rating: Summary: Terrific Book, "Pearl Harbor: The Movie and the Moment"!!! Review: If you liked the movie, which I did, I'm sure you would like "Pearl Harbor: The Movie and the Moment". Not only does it have plenty of color images, movie stills, sketches, storyboards, maps, blueprints, computer graphics, behind the scenes information, and more, it also tells about the actual history of what happened on December 7, 1941 at Pearl Harbor. I liked reading the actors, producers, and writers comments in the book. I especially liked reading about the Eagle Squadron. Teaches you Eagle Squadron slang in the book! I think that even if you didn't like the movie that much, this book has plenty of information about the history of Pearl Harbor so I'm sure you would be satisfied with it. Enjoy!

Rating: Summary: NEVER LET THE TRUTH GET IN THE WAY OF A GOOD STORY Review: Now how did michael eisner (i.e., of Disney, Inc.) know two or so years ago that 'war scholars' would 'discover' that the Japanese had broken the US code and were forced into attacking the hardline United States(see LA Times 12/8/01)! Is nothing sacred ? Is everything up for sale ? YES. YES. More discouragening is the gullable US public. Walter Cronkite, Dan Rather, M.Safer(all millionaires by the way) etc etc are simply reading/reporting (entertaining) what they are instructed to report by their corporate owners. A new twist, a new story to sell. Its the corporate ethic: if it is profitable it is good. You know, at least Howard Stearn doesn't pretend to be a 'credible journalist': Its not about truth its about money and big boobs.
Rating: Summary: Hollywood And History Review: The film Pearl Harbor may not have met everyone's expectations, when it was released in 2001, but thanks to a realistic recreation of the infamous attack and its aftermath, it is still worth a look. THe Movie And The Mooment offers readers a fair amount of both historical context and behind the scenes secrets, to satify everyone. Executive Producer Jerry Bruckheimer opens the book with a photo foreword, director Michael Bay offers an introduction, and screenwriter Randall Wallace pens the preface. It is very interesting to "read" how each man views the film as it relates to history. As facinatinmg as the movie making stuff is, the real high points of the book, for me, was reading the history, especially the survivor accounts and what really happened as a result. The book's photography leaps off the pages. The behind the scenes photos of the attack sequence are just fabulous...Key production personell, as well as cast members, are profiled and interviewed.Thankfully, discussion of the film's least intrguing story aspect, the romantic love triangle, is kept to a minimum for the purposes of the book. Not just for film or history buffs alone, the 176 page book has something for both groups to enjoy.
Rating: Summary: What goes into a movie... Review: This book does not tell the story of Pearl Harbor;nor does it claim to.What we have here, is a book showing what went into making this movie about Pearl Harbor and it does it very well. The artwork, photos of actors at work, scenes being set up,storyboards, maps, drawings, special effects set-ups,equipment mock-ups and replicas, original photos, etc.are all combined to make this an excellent portrayal of all that goes into recreating an event of such monumental proportions.
Rating: Summary: GREAT! Review: This book is great, for both the movie lovers and the actually veterans of the war. This book tells alot of interesting facts! It is a very good book.
Rating: Summary: Hardly Worth the Paper It Is Printed On Review: This book is nothing more than glossy marketing propaganda for this cinematic perversion of historical events. There is a certain amount of reverence when handling the subject matter of War. No matter how much action they contain, most Hollywood War films usually have a base of genuine patriotism at their core. Even an anti-war film stays true to its course. PEARL HARBOR is not about patriotism or any higher aspirations. It's really all about CG effects and the almighty dollar at the expense of real lives. What is the value of this chameleon-like book spreading the pseudo- patriotic message of the film?
Rating: Summary: OK Book to a just OK movie Review: This is an OK book. The movie was just OK. The book is a little better. There are very good photos in this book if you like the movie. That's what I like about it.
