Summary: Derivative!
Review: Denis Leary may sound cool and in your face on the outside, but his material is not really his. Fans of Bill Hicks will recognise many of the jokes here, except that Hicks didn't rely on the same material over and over in his act. Leary even targets Jim Fix, who was the subject of a whole Hicks routine, as was smoking, drugs, er, certain politicians, meat eating, erm, cancer even. Hicks was also a considerably wittier man when picking off political topics. Anyone thinking of buying this is better advised to check out Arizona Bay or Dangerous.

That isn't to say Leary isn't funny, or that there is no originality here. The part about death in New York is pretty good, but the overall feel is of a man whop just knows a good thing when he hears it. He is a good performer live, though.

Anyone who needs some guy to tell them WHY they do as they please is more meek than the opinionated Leary would like to think his fans are. Sorry Denis, this is too derivative. Goatboy forever.

Summary: A verbal in-your-face-volcano
Review: I have more than two words for you: Buy this book now and finally understand why you smoke, drink and do whatever you should not be doing (duh!).

Summary: Frickin hilarious, man.
Review: It's rude, and crude, and makes all the PC people wet their pants. Just what a great comedy CD should do. If you can't relate I got just one word for you:Oprah. OKAY?

Summary: Brilliant
Review: Leary, who is a master at finding the faults in the world, delivers a hilarious performance on stage, scripted in this book. He talks about how he is angry at the world for criticizing smokers, and how he is angry at vegetarians for not leaving us meat eaters alone. It starts off well, with the lyrics to the song "A**hole" and goes from there with his hilarious comedy. Some of this book, is not even on the tape. It is for the real Denis Leary fan. Get it.

Summary: Incredibly funny, dark humor!
Review: Man, once I read this, I found that, unlike any other kind of comedy books (i.e. Dennis Miller, George Carlin, etc.); I could read this book over and over, and STILL LAUGH! This book contained old subject matter, but was still great. For anyone who loves comedy, and doesn't mind swearing.

Summary: Very crude
Review: One gets the feeling that this book was published slightly too late to be the rambunctious hit the author wanted. Offensive humour was becoming rather passe, and so those such as Leary were obliged to be even more offensive in order to be noticed.

Satire? I don't think so.

Summary: Even more than the special and CD
Review: This book is pretty much the script from the stand-up special for Leary's 1992 No Cure For Cancer show. It has more though, it doesn't have as many curses and goves even more in depth to Leary's ideals about drugs and all that stuff we know and love. It's as and possibly even more brilliant as the special, as Leary makes even more keen observations. For instance, the reason Irish people drink so much? The Irish music is always sad. Great.
