Rating: Summary: A must read-Mr. Spock Review: A great itroduction to logic, and a great debunking of Rush.
Rating: Summary: Great Idea! Review: Anything that teaches a valuable lesson about fallacy and ridicules a ridiculous man at the same time just has to be great! I think the only people who would disagree with the quality of this book are the dim-witted regressive sheep who think that Rush Limbaugh is actually an intelligent being worthy of respect in our society. "Logic" and "Limbaugh" don't even belong in the same sentence!
Rating: Summary: Don't bother Review: Author is apparently very found of the "straw man" technique. The book was silly, and I was looking forward to reading it too.
Rating: Summary: Decent but not quite what I thought it to be Review: I bought this book to practise my logical reasoning skills with actual logical arguments and fallacies - I'm not interested in US domestic politics. The main problem of the book from this point of view is that Mr. Limbaugh seems to make errors mainly in the form of ad hominem fallacies. And though the book contains many examples of other kinds of logical errors in Limbaugh's writings, some types of common fallacies are missing. The idea of collecting and analyzing political arguments from the point of view of logic is a good one, but for learning logical reasoning the book should be more comprehensive. For that purpose, other political thinkers should be covered, too. For those wanting a good introduction to logical reasoning I recommend Kelley's "The art of reasoning".
Rating: Summary: misunderstood book Review: I found these reviews to be the most even handed. The Truth hurts!, August 13, 2001 and Repeatedly Distorts What Limbaugh Says, January 4, 2000 Reviewers appear not to understand that the book is tongue in cheek. Dr. Perkins realizes that Limbaugh is a talk show host of the Donahue school, providing entertainment but not argument or logical persuasion. Lancek is right to point out that Rush is only an entertainer, and "a reader" is correct that passages from Rush that Perkins presents as containing arguments often were not intended as arguments. As far as being an introductory text in logic the book is good. It combined successfully clear instruction with the popular culture of its day. I wish Perkins had been able to find more examples of unequivocal fallacies. So many of his examples could be resolved as the fallacy of "evading the issue" rather than some other fallacy.

Rating: Summary: What baloney! Consider it for the bottom of your birdcage. Review: I won't waste much time and energy on skewering this book and its Marxist author - though they both richly deserve it - because I only want to put in as much time writing this review as the author did in fact-checking. So, I have to go now.
Rating: Summary: Liberal Logic Review: If you wish to waste your time, read this book. This is just another liberal who wishes he had the following that Rush has. Rush's logic is in fact quite good and there are a number of other books that give you the other side. Marxism is dead around the world except in the USA. Its these type of liberals that keep it alive.

Rating: Summary: Logic and Mr. Limbaugh Review: Mr. Perkins may teach logic in a univercity but if he wants to be logical he should use all the facts. He reminds me of a song from Simon and Garfunkel -- " All lies in jest, Until a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest" You can close your eyes but it won't make the evils of the world go away. To much spin to call this book logical and not to funny. No stars ~!
