Rating: Summary: GREAT Book! Review: Exciting. And fab for all beatles fans
Rating: Summary: a great little book Review: For someone who wants to jam through some Beatles songs this book is great. Its got the chords, melody, and lyrics, which is all you need for a left-to-the-imagination solo acoustic rendition by your average silent rock star. The ONLY problem with it is that it is pocket paperback sized, which is fine if you're reading it, but if you are playing a guitar you'll need to get one of your groupies to hold it open for you.
Rating: Summary: Great value Review: For the money this is a really nice book of Beatles songs. The arrangements are good and accurate. I don't know about whether they are in the 'right key' or not. It is easy enough to transpose for the somewhat experienced player. I use a capo for some of them just to adjust for my vocal range (female-mezzo-soprano). I really like the simple, yet beautiful arrangement for "Rain". The lyrics are a teeny bit off. It is 'when the rain comes' not, 'if the rain comes', etc. This is not for a beginner. There are somewhat difficult bar chords and not all the chords in the arrangements are referenced in the back. Any comprehensive chord book will fix this. Or some figuring out. I have been playing for a year (compulsively) and I have a music background. I wasn't able to use most of the songs in this book when I first got it last year. The biggest beef I have with this book is the size and the fact you need to weight the pages down. But what do you want for the price? I am planning on scanning the pages and enlarging them. I'm now going to look for some others in the series. Keep practicing!

Rating: Summary: Looks good to me Review: The previous reviews shown here have nothing to do with this book. They appear to be for "The Beatles Paperback Songbook", which does look to be small and not necessarily accurate."The Beatles 1 - Recorded Version Guitar" appears to be exactly what it says: transriptions of the recorded versions. My guitar teacher has spent a couple of sessions breaking down "Day Tripper" off of the CD for me. What this professional musician came up with for this song is almost verbatim what is published in this book. So now I have it written out in a form that I can actually read (and correct as needed). It is a full-size (8.5x11) music book and I look forward to working my way through it.

Rating: Summary: Yet another beatles compendium Review: There are dozens of "complete Beatles collections" out there, and the only thing to be said in favor of this one is that it's small and cheap. The keys are generaly wrong, the chords not what's being played, but the melodies are mostly right. It's not a terrible reference for an experienced player, but a rather misleading one for the beginner- though perhaps a good tool for learning how to figure out what key a song is actually in!
Rating: Summary: A review. Ahem. Review: This book contains guitar chords, lyrics (which may or may not be accurate), and melody lines for a surprising range of Beatles songs, ranging from the most popular to obscure, but interesting, songs from the White Album, Sgt. Pepper, and Abbey Road. Not all of the songs are in key to the original music. The chart of basic guitar chords in the back is very helpful for beginning guitarists.
