Rating: Summary: I give it an "eh" Review: First of all, the book had some really great pictures. That's the good thing about this book. The ONLY good thing. The bad thing is that most of the information is wrong, wrong, wrong! There are many errors in this book, and it'll get Monkees fans really really confused (it happened to me!) Now, I just like to look at the pictures in the book. Steer clear, don't read!
Rating: Summary: THIS IS A GOOD BOOK Review: I BOUGHT THIS BOOK WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT, WITH A DIFFERENT COVER TO IT, ITS VERY GOOD, I DIDN'T GET THE NEW ONE, SINCE I'VE YET TO COMPARE IT TO THE OLD ONE THAT I PUT AWAY, BUT ITS THE SAME AUTHOR, SO I'M PRETTY SURE THIS BOOK IS AS GREAT AS THE OLD ONE, PICS AND ALL.IS THIS THE SAME BOOK?
Rating: Summary: I don't care what anyone else says this book is informative! Review: I felt a bit cautiouse before buying this book after reading other peoples reviews! However being an up and coming huge fan of The Monkees I decided to buy it. Now I have absolutey no idea what the other reviewers mean I thought this book was cram packed full of information. I read it through once and it took me ages to get through because each page is full of information. I especially love the first couple of pages when it introduces each monkee. I was amazed on what each said I mean there was so much about each guy that I never knew for example how hard it was for Peter to fit in at school etc. You don't have to take it from me but I thought this book was excellent and I never noticed anything wrong with it the information seemed alright to me. From an up and coming Monkee Fan Jennifer
Rating: Summary: Entertaining but not completely accurate Review: Kudos to Baker for writing a book about The Monkees, the most misunderstood group of rock history. They still tour and are still popular (and still damned good). But, aside from some decent photos and a fairly interesting pace, there's a ton of misrepresentations here, old rumours that noone bothered to check up on and just plain old errors. In dates, personal lives, etc.--just about every element is distorted at least somewhat. I'm not saying intentionally, but still... Which while it doesn't really stop you from reading, it gets pretty annoying. Come to think of it, of all the books published about The Monkees, there is no one single definitive tome available and there never has been. Maybe one day a serious literary endeavour will emerge to tell the whole story accurately, but then The Monkees story is not yet over.

Rating: Summary: The Monkees Review: This book told the story of how the Monkees started out of being a fake band and then turning into one of the most popular bands in the 60's. It's a good book to read if making of bands is your thing.
Rating: Summary: Monkee Mania is right............. Review: This is a very fascinating book to have around and read. It's very interesting and again it's very informative. It has everything you want to know about all four monkees. It has nice interesting pictures as well. And also a very collectble book.
Rating: Summary: A very informative and entertaining book! Review: This is by far the most informative literary piece I have read on the Monkees. I have read numerous magazine articles and interviews but only one other book-"Hey, Hey, We're the Monkees" by Harold Bronson (which I really enjoyed). This book however was packed with pictures, information and incredibly detailed stories about the Monkees individually and as a group that I hadn't seen or heard before. I couldn't put it down. The only thing that bothers me about the validity of the information provided is that twice, the author states Peter's longtime girlfriend Reine Stewart as being the daughter of famous actor James Stewart. I am also a Jimmy Stewart fan and know this is absolutely not true (I know all four of his children and Reine is not one of them). This makes me question what other tidbits of information are not true. Otherwise, I loved the book and would recommend it to anyone (Monkees fan or not).
