Summary: Inspirational is right
Review: First of all, wow! What an inspirational book.

Clay's book, is filled with all of his experiences that have built him up to what he is now. Some funny, some sad, and some happy memories. I agree with an earlier customer "It's like Clay is sitting down with you to chat about his life". He's reaching out to all his fans and sharing his life with you.

While you are reading this book it really makes you think about, what you could do better, or how you can help the world. I could not have read a more inpiring biography. Thank you very much Clay!

Summary: This Book Changed Me
Review: For the past year I have been struggling with myself hoping to become a better person. I was asking God to make me a kinder, less judgmental person. When He didn't miraculously swoop down and turn me into a wonderfully sweet and caring person, I figured I was going about things the wrong way.
When I became humble and realized it was up to me to change myself and not God, He brought Clay into my life.
It all started with the T.V. guide article in the Dec. '04 issue. After reading the article, I purchased Clay's Christmas CD and the book Learning To Sing. The book touched me so deeply I read it again. It was truly the answer to my prayers.
I could relate to the dysfunctional family aspects. The torment of being teased in school, being raised by a single mother who worked her fingers to the bone to keep a roof over my head, and food in my mouth. It is a terrific read. It's no wonder there is so much soul in his singing. He has had so much pain in his life, but he was also blessed, and very grateful for the good people he had in his life.
This book has truly changed my life. I am so glad to know there are other people out there who have been affected by this book as I have. Please read this honest, open, sad, funny, wonderful book.
Thank you, God. Thank you,. Clay

Summary: Unbelieveable!
Review: I first got this book from my friend, although I knew I was getting it from my parents. Now, usually I do not like to read at all, but since I love Clay Aiken, I knew I had to read his book. I read it over 3 days, in about 4 hours and 20 minutes. I do not think that I have ever read a real book that quickly. I loved it. It was amazing. It made me cry once, and made me tear up once. It made me laugh and it made me love Clay even more. This is an absolute must-read for any Clay Aiken fan and even one for a person who is not too fond of him. If you read this book, you get to understand how Clay ticks and why us Claymates love him so dearly. I am proud to say that I have 2 copies of the book now; one to read and one to not open and keep in mint condition to cherish for the rest of my life. I hope you take this review into consideration when deciding whether or not to purchase this book. :)

Summary: Witty, inspirational and heartfelt - Outstanding Message!!!
Review: I have always loved Clay and bought this book not really knowing what to expect.

Once I opened it, I honestly could not put it down and within a few hours had read the whole book. It is funny, sad, encouraging and extremely well written.

This book will have you laughing and crying and striving to be a better person. Whether or not you know who Clay Aiken is or even if you know him and for whatever reason are not already a fan, you will love this book!

It is so much more than the typical autobiography and I PROMISE YOU - You will NOT be disappointed - I am an avid reader of all types of books and this is by far one of the VERY BEST I have ever read!

It is insightful for those who are already happy with themselves, but it is even more helpful for anyone who may be depressed, "lost", or merely feels shunned by society or even their own family.

Clay helps the reader to realize that all of us are important and until we can accept ourselves, we can never be truly happy. He stresses the importance of forgiveness and acceptance of others without having to compromise ourselves.

It doesn't matter how goodlooking we are or how many friends we have, we do not have to please the world. All we have to do is believe in ourselves and let God take care of the rest.

I HIGHLY recommend this book and/or audio (there are slight variations - I have both, so it is worth getting both - a few paragraphs throughout the book have been left out of the audio).

If you like Clay, you will love him even more and if you don't, you will - guaranteed.

Since first reading the book and listening to the audio, I have re-read and re-listened to both over and over again, and they still amaze and inspire me.

Just a note: Any negative reviewers have OBVIOUSLY never read the book - if they did, they would not be able to write or say anything negative about it - as a matter of fact, they might actually change their attitude and realize that the world needs more people like Clay and less people like them.

Summary: Skeptic turned Fan...
Review: I must admit that I've been really skeptical about this book when I heard that Clay was releasing it. Although I've been a fan of Clay since his American Idol days, I couldn't get over how a man the same age as me could come up with an autobiography/inspirational memoir that is worth reading.

I was wrong, truly and completely wrong. I read the book in one sitting, marvelling at Clay's sensitivity and thoughtfulness in expressing the events that happened in his life. The book made me cry several times, especially when he talked about how the little boy, Joey, who was a known troublemaker, gave his present to his best friend whom he had been bullying.

I am not a Christian. In fact, I consider myself one of the atheists that Clay expressed much confusion about. But I can understand Clay's faith and I love how he did not try to push his belief to anyone reading the book, and only said that it was a faith he himself had chosen.

Clay changed my life. I spent my life trying to fit it. Now I don't think I have ever been considered a nerd. But all my life, I've been trying to be popular, well-liked and accepted. I may not have Clay's profound learnings, but one day I too hope to find my song and learn to sing it well.

So give this book a read even if you are a skeptic. Even if you are not moved by it at the end of the day, at least you were open-minded enough to give it a try.

Summary: His talent is beyond words.
Review: Laura from Canada does not know what she is talking about. I am 43 years old, not a "kiddie" and I loved his book. So did my 48 year old husband and my 64 year old mother.

I attended his Christmas concert and was completely in awe. Here it is the end of January and I am still listening to his Christmas CD.

I am 99% Country music, but I am completely enamored with him. I picked him to win from his first audition. It wasn't until later that I learned that he sang originally sang Country. I think that probably explains my attachment to him.

I have his Joyful Noise tour program on display in my office.

Summary: Clay is a positive influence and good ol' southern boy
Review: Learning To Sing probably wasn't something I would have bought for myself, however, I have thoroughly enjoyed it and it is an easy read.

Listening to a copy of Clay's audition in Atlanta, one can remember how truly "geeky" this young man was at the start of American Idol, yet how powerful his voice was. Truly the voice and the body didn't match.

However, Clay is a real person - not some made-up personality like many of those gathering in Hollywood. In spite of abandonment, mental abuse and never "fitting in," he was raised with a set of morals and values that are so uncommon these days. Better yet, he wants to stand up and be an example that you don't have to give in and be something you are not.

To be honest, my favourite part of the book was when Clay talked candidly about his faith. He is a Christian who loves the Lord and wants to use the gifts, talents and opportunities that God has given him to make a stand and set an example.

Clay still has a long way to go; however, he has come such a long way already. I look forward to see how God is going to use him, both as a role model, and as an instrument reaching out to special needs children.

Summary: Especially for those questioning their Faith
Review: Like many young people, I have always questioned my faith and the nature of this crazy mixed up world. What I read in "Learning to Sing" put much of what I have felt growing up in perspective. The writing isn't exactly for the New York Times, but never isnt written over the heads of the readers. This story is tender, heartbreaking, agonizing, and all the more because it is true. I wasn't a big fan of Clay Aiken's until I got this book as an early Christmas present. Anyone that hasn't read it, go and do so now. It'll make you smile.
