Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK IS BETTER THAN THE SHOW Review: As an avid watcher of OLTL since I was in 6th Grade, this book has been a long overdue. It is chock full of events and photos of Llanview PA.For the current fans who watch Viki,Bo, Nora, Todd, Blair et al. This should satisfy all who crave the humble (and not so humble) beginnings of all these characters. Perusing through, I remembered and reminisced all the times associated with all the storylines. It Is a must Have for all the fans, who loved past characters like Joe Riley, Karen Wolek,Brad Vernon and Marco Dane. Lets hear it for the first 30 and heres to 30 more.
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK IS BETTER THAN THE SHOW Review: I HAVE BEEN A BIG FAN OF OLTL FOR 25 YEARS. THIS BOOK IS EVERYTHING I COULD WANT IN COVERING MY FAVORITE SOAP OPERA. THE INTERVIEWS, PHOTOS, RESEARCH DONE MR. WARNER IS OUTSTANDING. IT BROUGHT BACK SOME GREAT MEMORIES FROM THE PAST 25 YEARS. ALL FANS OF ONE LIFE TO LIVE AND SOAPS SHOULD OWN THIS GREAT PIECE OF WORK. A WONDERFUL BOOK DEDICATED TO A WONDERFUL SHOW THAT FILLED MANY OF MY AFTERNOONS. A MUST READ.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful history of one of the best daytime dramas ever! Review: This book is a wonderful historical memoir of one of the most daring and well-written shows on daytime. Not only does it chronicle the show's rich history, it includes wonderfully bright and vivid color photos of many of the most-loved actors/actresses/characters that have been on the show. I highly recommend this book to all fans of OLTL!
Rating: Summary: This enormous volume should be well received by OLTL fans. Review: Unexptectedly huge in size and overall encompassing the general backstory of a show which deserves more attention than it has received, this ONcE in a LIFEtime book ultimately fails to capture the true essence of Llanview and its rich history--a history full of some of the most compelling contemporary drama ever to be seen on television (or anywhere else, for that matter). Don't let the book's enormity fool you: although it contains a generous pictorial ensemble, the book comes off as more (glitzy) style than substance, which is completely opposite of the greatly substantial and stylishly subtle drama series that is ONE LIFE TO LIVE. Nevertheless, Hyperion has produced a book most OLTL fans thought would never come into fruition, and for that alone the ABC-affiliated publishing house deserves a thousand kudos. Gary Warner's latest edition should be well received by OLTL fans all over.
