Rating: Summary: Fun for All Review: I picked up this book before going on vacation this summer. It provided hours of fun in the car, around guests' dinner tables, and for my son and his friends at camp. The puzzles range from easy to challenging. I even gave copies as hostess gifts and for a friend undergoing chemotherapy. I will definitely think about this fun and unusual puzzle book for stocking stuffers this holiday season.
Rating: Summary: Superior Brain Teasers: Low cost for high quantity Review: Sterling Publishing wisely placed the answers to these 159 teasers parallel to and inconspicuously by the spine of the book. The answer to the teaser on the 4th page is near the spine on the 6th page, etc. You have to go out of your way to find the answers, and this also allowed a very large number of puzzles to be nicely fit into a small, inexpensive book (that just happens to be in the shape of a toilet seat).
These types of puzzles are very popular. I have heard them called such things as Punzzles, Thinking Caps, Thinkerobics (in another Terry Stickels book), but Terry has aptly named them Frame Games, due to the nice frames he places them in. Some of the answers will just jump out at you, while others you'll have to dig for. You are sure to pick up a few terms and phrases in the process of tackling these problems.
Terry's Frame Games have become famous from his USA Weekend column and elsewhere. Buy this book and enjoy the addiction!
Rating: Summary: Signs of Intelligent Life Review: Terry and I go back a few years. We're both in the puzzle biz. Terry never ceases to amaze me with his ability to produce book after book of ingenious, visual and rewarding puzzles. They're like taking a Mensa test ... only a whole lot more fun. And to borrow from a popular potato chip slogan, "you can't solve just one!" So if you order this volume, and I hope you do, don't schedule anything important for the day it arrives in the mail.
