Rating: Summary: The Glenn Miller AAF Band-Sustineo Alas/I Sustain the Wings Review: With exquisite expertise and monumental research efforts, this two-volume set is the ultimate discographical and historical source for this legendary musical aggregation. With very rare exceptions in the chronology, Mr. Polic has succeeded in bringing to light the entire gamut of every aspect of the unit's activities at home and abroad, save for personnel and/or venue details lost to the historical record surrounding a miniscule number of in-person appearances. Also, there remains some mystery regarding lost masters of certain sessions known to have been recorded but still lacking a definitive answer regarding their disposition through either civilian or military hands. The work is easily adaptable to end-user revision as previously unreleased material becomes available through various domestic and foreign labels. Apart from this definitive source material, Mr. Polic has acted behind the scenes with various record producers within the States and overseas in an effort to bring as much of the civilian and AAF recorded libraries to the buying public as possible...despite some inane obstacles placed in the path by some rather short-sighted label executives. Mr. Polic's efforts on both fronts are incomparable.
