Rating: Summary: Ragtime Done Right Review: Even though the title is a little less accurate than when the book came out in the 1970s, partly due to the number of recordings of these pieces and other firms that have published them, this is still a well-balanced collection of wonderful piano rags collected by a true authority on the topic, Trebor Tichenor. It's a lot of fun to explore what's within, and occasionally stumble across the spectacular (Lion Tamer Rag, Just Ask Me) or the unusual (Bantam Step, Jinx Rag). In addition, there are many places (including my site) where you can hear these pieces played on the web. One of the great companions to Classic Piano Rags, it isn't just for the afficianado. The covers for all of the pieces are also included. It would cost you thousands to collect the sheet music alone, so why aren't you ordering it now?
Rating: Summary: An EXCELLENT collection of rare rags. Review: Here's another great collection of rags from Dover. The book contains 63 rags printed from the original sheet music with black and white reproductions of all the covers. Despite being printed from copies of the original sheet music, all pieces are very clear and easy to read. .... It truly is a "5 star" book. I'm so thankful to be able to have copies of these rare rags for such an affordable price. Many of the pieces in here would cost $50 or more each *if* you could find the original sheet music! They are loads of fun to play. These are NOT simplified arrangements of the pieces, these are the REAL thing! Since Amazon didn't post a listing of the pieces contained within this collection, I've typed one up from my copy:MAY AUFDERHEIDE -Dusty Rag -The Thriller Rag GEORGE D.
