Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A great history of the most intense band of the 80s.
Review: While the title is a bit misleading (Nick Cave's full career isn't covered), this book is an important document due to the lack of coverage that the Birthday Party have received since breaking up. Just as intense as Iggy & The Stooges, the Sex Pistols, or Joy Division, their music was chaotic, menacing, emotionally charged, and black-hearted. A great deal of information comes straight from band members and the author's attention to details concerning the songs is rewarding for fans and insightful for newcomers with adventurous tastes in music. A long overdue account of one of the great post-punk bands.
