Rating: Summary: Highly recommended for dedicated chess players Review: Accessibly written by chess grandmaster and trainer Nigel Davies, Taming The Sicilian is a highly detailed chess manual showcasing techniques and strategies that players of the White side in a game of chess can utilize against one of the most popular opening moves for the Black side. Numerous technical diagrams and instructions cover variations including the Najdorf, Classical, Scheveningen, Pelikan-Sveshnikov, and more. An excellent guide for advanced chess players looking to sharpen their skills further, Taming The Sicilian is a highly recommended addition to any dedicated chess player's reference shelf.
Rating: Summary: Great place to start Review: If play White against the Sicilian then this is a great book to get an introduction to Black's various defenses- there are seperate chapters for each system Black employs, such as Dragon, Kan, etc. The system Davies suggests revolves around the White fianchetto of his king Bishop on to the g2 square against most of Black's replies. Illustrated by games from grandmasters such as Tal and Nunn, this book makes a great intro for White against the Sicilian. Other great Davies opening books are the new Grunfeld and Alekhine's books by Everyman publishers. I wrote this review because the Midwest reviewer below appears to be a totally bogus troll who is just trying to amass lots of votes to satisfy a troll's ego trip.
