As a bonus, the reader is able to enjoy Parish's insights on the contrasts between reel love and real love. We all know that movies and life are not quite the same, but Parish's witty and flowing prose make the subject seem fresh. This is a light -- but highly informative -- fun read.

Review: I always look forward to James Robert Parish's books for their research and insight, but this one really surprised me: it's a fast, fun read, perfect for a day at the beach--or anywhere!I knew about most of the Hollywood romances described, but some of the details were fascinating. I loved the sidebar stats and notes (my eyes kept going to them first after awhile!). The book is also handsomely set and illustrated. This is a must read, and not just for Hollywood movie lovers. The only flaw I can think of is I wanted more when it was all over!!! Great job!

Peppered with off-screen anecdotes and details, he invites us to explore the differences between reel and real romance. And he succeeds admirably, because the book is fun to read and leads one to watch the films we're unfamiliar with. Highly recommended.
