Summary: not a great book
Review: I prefer Capablanca's clearer writing style in his Fundamentals of Chess and a Primer of Chess, as this book seems to lose something in the Russian translation. I am rated 1900 elo and was able to breeze through the book in just a few days. The real worth of this book are the 11 games annotated in the last two chapters. There are much better beginner books available. Sorry Gary, but i do like your puzzle books (they are superlative).

Summary: Great Book - gets right to the point!
Review: This is a good book for the beginner to intermediate player. A lot of material is covered in a very straight forward manner. The chapters on lone king and end game strategies is worth the price of the book.
