Summary: A valuable study of a popular subject
Review: This is a very useful collection of essays on a topic that has seen a major increase in scholarly interest. I found the articles on Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton and the images of women in country music to be especially interesting. There are contributions by most of the current ranking scholars in the field.
