Summary: An Amazing Leap
Review: As a student of Dr. Alan Gumm, I have had the privilege and honor of being immersed in Dr. Gumm's instruction for two semesters. His book, "Music Teaching Style: Moving Beyond Tradition," is a beautifully laid out method designed to help you as educators develop your own style that meets the cognitive and affective needs of every student in your classroom. His combination of successful planning, flowing organization, and psychological/educational theory to back up his assertions go to the core of not just music education, but of effective teaching as a whole. His focus upon the positive elements that every student can and does bring to the classroom, and building upon that SUCCESS with further succeses, allows the teacher to step back and really allow the students to take hold of their education, exploring and discovering, challenging themselves in an environment that all students feel safe to learn in. Every teacher needs to have this book on their shelf and be an active evaluation every day of their teaching style. Please feel free to email me or contact me REGARDING CONTENT OF THE BOOK ONLY if you have any question either for myself or the author, and I am more than happy to assist however possible.
