Summary: The Best Of The "Idiot Box"
Review: As a regular subscriber to Entertainment Weekly magazine, almost from its first issue, I have seen it go from fledgling upstart to its current vaulted status. One of my favorite things about EW is when the editors decide to publish a "best of" or "greatest of all time" list about a particular area of entertainment. Whether the list be about films, TV, music, books, home video, or the games people play, at some point, it's going to be ranked.

First published as a special issue cover story, The 100 Greatest TV Shows of All Time, then in both a hardcover and paperback format, the book is a celebration of the medium at its best. Divided into chapters--The Top 20, and then focusing on the best of the rest in each genre--such as comedy, drama, game show, the mini-series, talk and variety show, and a ah yes the guilty pleasure. Thanfully the current reality boon or is it bust, wasn't part if the landscape when this was published, so that it's not here...but if they ever decide to update the list...

All of the biggies on the list come with a set of quick facts and triviia about each show. The 143 page book includes dozens of black and white, as well as color photographs. The 100 Greatest TV Shows of All Time is an easy and fun read for any couch potato. I still can't believe they ranked Seinfield before All In The Family, or that the classic Dick Van Dyke Show didn't crack the top 20!! What were they thiking? Did some of your favorites make the all tme list?

Summary: A must-have for any television lover
Review: I bought this book for 99 cents figuring I had nothing to lose. I was shocked at the reading pleasure it brought to me!

This book is extremely entertaining for readers of all kinds. It provides basic information for well over 100 different television series as well as little-known facts and a look at how the television programs influenced culture.

Also not to be missed are the photographs included. While many of the photos are well-known, they are all beautifully displayed with vibrant color. Most intriguing were photographs of Lucille Ball and Mary Tyler Moore, although there are great photos from shows such as The X-Files, Star Trek, The Simpsons, and many others.

I also like how, in addition to the "100 Greatest Shows Ever," the reader is also treated to the top 10 shows in other various genres. The book really makes you rethink the entertainment that television can provide. Buy it -- you won't regret it!
