Summary: Horrible!
Review: I attended a management training camp with Mr. Hayes as the facilitator, and found him and his concepts to be interesting, profound, and at times, humorous. Jim drove the nail home on basic leadership concepts, and greatly added to and improved my concept of todays management, leadership, and employment concepts. His book on unemployment should enlighten the reader to the fact that in todays environment unemployment is not an end, but a beginning. Keep your sense of humor, don't loose pride in your past achievements, and stay at the helm of your career potential.

Summary: a very humorous outlook on being without a job
Review: If you are the type of person who does not have comedy central because you find it offensive, then do not buy this book. However, if you love to laugh and enjoy reading the "intellectual" comic strips in a newspaper...then you will like this book. This book deals with the corporate world and looks at it from the point of being downsized. It is meant for those who are qualified, intelligent people who know they are going to get another job. However, any open-minded person with a sense of humor can read this and laugh. I did.

Summary: You Won't Find This in the "Self Help" Section!
Review: It all started when I lost my job a few years back. I received "The Joys..." as a gift and I have to admit it did lighten my mood and help me take stock of the situation in a light-hearted way. It is now my standard gift to anyone I know who finds himself in the unfortunate position of being unemployed. It's hard to find the humor in anything while unemployed ... every little bit helps!

Summary: The Joys of Unemployment
Review: The "reader from Gainesville, Florida" who failed to see the humor in the Joys of Unemployment could not have really read the book. The whole point of the book is that things are never as bad as they seem and people deal with being unemployed in different ways. There are several motivating and encouraging sidebars throughout the book, and the humor, while sometimes dark and sarcastic, reflects someone refusing to be swallowed up with despair and anger - like "the reader from Gainesville, Florida".
