Rating: Summary: Worthless Review: First, it doesn't tell you some of the most important odds to know. For example, it does not tell you what chance you have of flopping an 8 out straight draw (either open-ended or double gut) with a 0-gap connector. In fact, it tells you nothing about what the flop odds are for a particular starting hand.
Second, it does not deal with turn odds. It only deals with 2 cards to come, and the river to come. One card turn odds are not discussed.
Third, it gives you odds for a particular hand, not all hands of a type. For example, if you have 87 and the flop is A82, it gives you a table for figuring out the chance of hitting a 88822 full house. It does not give you the cumulative chance of hitting any full house. For that, you have to add up the possibilities of 88877, 88822, 77788, AAA88, etc. yourself.
Finally, it is difficult to read.
Mike Petriv's Holdem Odds Book is far superior on all counts.
Rating: Summary: Useful Review: I found it very useful. I not agree with that reviewer who says it's a book for programmers. You just have to skip the math parts and algorithms if you have no math skills. You can pick all needed results from tables. It really covers all card odds and the math of Hold'em. It is not a strategy book, but an odds book with the math behind the game. And odds are part of any strategy.
Rating: Summary: Thank you for writing this book! Review: I have no great math skills but after reading this book in conjunction with some texts on Probability I have a good understanding of it. I was not only interested in the numerical results, but also in how to calculate them. Until now, I used to calculate the card odds by myself. After reading the book, I realized that most of my calculations was wrong. Probabilities are not that simple as they look. I even not look at odds tables posted on web anymore, because I don't know how they reached those results. Anyway, this is the most complete source of odds.
I highly recommend the book to every Hold'em player!
Rating: Summary: Learning tool Review: It is a lot of math there. You can skip it or you may learn to apply the probability calculus in other card game situations, because the complete solutions are presented.
From a player's perspective, it's definitely impossible to memorize all the provided numeric results, but all information is useful for a pro.
Rating: Summary: New and interesting information. It's worth. Review: It is definitely new and interesting information for evaluating hands. Not only it provides probability results, but also learns you how to calculate them. I found no such kind of odds in other poker books I read thus far.
Rating: Summary: Not worth the $$$ Review: Reading the other 5 (or so) reviews I decided to buy this "e-book" ignoring the one negative review. After purchasing and reading the book I have to agree with the other reviewer -- "...this book is for programmers, not poker players..." If it wasn't and e-book I would return/resell it. Don't buy unless you are a programmer or hold a PhD in Mathematics.
Rating: Summary: All Hold'em odds covered - formulas and tables Review: This book contains all odds involved (immediate odds and long-shot odds, for own hand and for one or more opponents, odds of improving hands, etc.).
You can use it for finding odds for any card formation for own hand and for opponents', in any of gaming moments. You can improve your betting decisions by comparing the odds for expected own card formations with odds for possible higher card formations of opponents. All possible gaming situations are covered.
The guide holds both probability formulas (algorithms) and tables of values. These return the needed results when inserting parameters as number of seen certain cards, number of dealt certain community cards and number of opponents. A lot of examples are attached.
Not only figures are presented, but also the complete mathematical solutions, for anyone interested in probability calculus to learn and be able to apply them in other card games.
The author (also author of "Probability Guide of Gambling") has offered a mathematical presentation in a practical guide form.
It is a perfect completion for any Hold'em strategy book.

Rating: Summary: Not for poker players Review: This is a book for programmers, not for pokerplayers who want to learn to evaluate a hand in the middle of a game.. DO NOT BUY!!!
Rating: Summary: 5 Stars from a Math,Coder View / 1 Star from a Player View Review: This is a nicely organized mathmatical explaination of how poker odds work. There are some areas missed, like 1, 2, 3 gap connectors. It assumes you understand how to calculate the combinations that make your hand improve but doesn't discount some of the "improvements" as being of lessor rank than than the combination on board.
This is a raw mathmatical explaination. You might gleam some insight for improving your poker game if you are a math person, but if you are a recreational player looking to improve your ability to calculate your odds and outs, this is not the text for you.
