Rating: Summary: The Elvis Archives Review: The Elvis Archives details the life of Elvis Presley. Decades since his passing on August 16, 1977, people are still intrigued and enamoured by the King. In fact, Elvis has become part of our cultural experience. In this way, if you asked any person on the street today (young or old) who was Elvis Presley, he or she would more than likely suddenly act out his or her best Elvis impression. I doubt you'd get that kind of immediate reaction to questions about any other influential figure, dead or alive. Simply put, Elvis was one of a kind and his influence in our music and culture will be felt for generations yet to come.
The Elvis Archives contains two important features. The first characteristic of this book is that it tells the complete story of Elvis' life. This aspect will allow future generations to understand who Elvis Presley was, why he captured so many people's hearts, and how he became the King. This book is particularly thorough in this respect and includes a good deal about Elvis before he was a star.
The second feature of this book is that it contains a large number of rare and previously unpublished photographs of Elvis. Though these photographs tend to be replicated black and white prints, the printed quality is extremely good. A few of the photographs even include Elvis' autograph as collected by the writers of this book. Diehard fans of Elvis will find these photographs invaluable.
Rating: Summary: A fascinating and engrossing biographical tour Review: The Elvis Archives is a biography of famous popular culture singer Elvis Aron Presley (1935-1977), that presents the facts of his life illustrated with over 100 rare or exclusive black-and-white photographs. An absolute must-have for fans of the King, The Elvis Archives is an objectively written, nonjudgemental account that paints a vivid picture of a brilliant and charismatic yet sadly flawed human being's life. A fascinating and engrossing biographical tour of a modern-day legend.
