Review: The Homosexual activists who are flooding this book with biased reviews are doing so because they know that Socarides is right. Most of the myths spouted by homosexual activists have been debunked, and they don't want the truth about their number 1 myth ("Homosexuals are born that way") getting out. Ever hear the 10% of Americans are Gay Myth??? The startling admission was made by a coalition of 31 homosexual advocacy groups, including the Human Rights Campaign, National Gay & Lesbian Task Force, and the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. In their brief filed in a recent U.S. Supreme Court case, Lawrence v. Texas, the coalition said that only "2.8% of the male, and 1.4% of the female, population identify themselves as gay, lesbian, or bisexual." That 2.1% figure [of the total population] even includes bisexuals, which makes the percentage of people claiming to be exclusively homosexual even lower. Want to know the real reason Homosexuals are targeting marriage now? Michelangelo Signorile, writing in Out! magazine, has stated that homosexuals should, "...fight for same-sex marriage and its benefits and then, once granted, redefine the institution of marriage completely ' To debunk a myth and radically alter an archaic institution. ' The most subversive action lesbians and gays can undertake-and one that would perhaps benefit all of society-is to transform the notion of 'family' altogether." (Out! magazine, Dec./Jan., 1994) The homosexual activists don't want the truth getting out to the general public, this is the reason for the hatred spewed toward this great book. This book was not written by a right wing crazy. Charles W. Socarides was an early advocate for the civil rights of homosexuals. He simply tells the truth about how a political force was used to change science. He understands that homosexuals are not born that way. He documents this clinical opinion by going through a number of systematic studies. Throughout the book he gives details about his successful treatment of homosexuals. Homosexuals don't want the idea that they can be treated getting out to the public, but this book details the success that Dr. Socarides has had. And the activists hate him for it.
