Summary: Incisivie Work on Homophobia
Review: David Plummer's superb exploration of homophobia, male sexuality and identity is based on impressive and meticulous research, and is of critical importance to current and future examinations of male sexuality and the impact of homophobia on us all. This book focuses on the origins of homophobia and penetrates and illuminates much of the mystery of homophobia in a sensitive and intelligent fashion. Further, it provides a fascinating insight into male intimacy, relationships and the place of childhood and adolence in the development of male sexual identity and awareness. It is required reading for anyone working in the field and perhaps more importantly for anyone interested in the human condition.

Summary: Calling all teachers
Review: Dr Plummer, in this erudite work, has combined painstaking research with very vivid case material. The result is a very readable and disturbing analysis of the genesis and consequences of prejudice based on sexuality in the modern Australian context. The results and conclusions provide imperatives for further action by governments, legislatures and educational institutions. I recommend its wide dissemination in public libraries and institutions and incorporation in broader curriculum development in the school system.
