Summary: Janet's Obsessed Stan Fan
Review: Being a fan of Janet's music, I have always been interested in anything involving her career and her. I found this book quiet by accident while doing a Search on Amazon.com for something else. I was able to find the book in a local used bookshop and set about to reading this rather long story.After the first chapter I was very disappointed in this books overall story and construction. Its constant and abrupt transitions between story narration, Email and Chat-logs are distracting and ham fisted. There are many numerous misspellings typos and examples of bad sentence structure. The entire book is written in more of a conversational then narrative tone, I found it difficult to decide if the author was talking to me as in a biography or if she was telling a story, as is normally the case in a piece decently written fiction. The book got progressively more difficult to read as the descriptions and conclusions the author comes to get downright ridiculous and disturbing. I found myself saying WHAT?? more often then I said hmmm. The emotional tone of the book is very mixed and disturbing where the author gives so many personal commentaries and anecdotes I found it difficult to tell if was in actuality a piece of fiction or just a strange excuse for the author to write a story with her and Janet Jackson in it. The Authors primary character which of course is herself, never actually seems like a victim. The fact that this book was written the way it was shows the character taking a perverse pride and joy not at what's happening to her but who is doing it to her. It is indeed a story of obsession but not the kind the books description bills it as. This book demonstrates more of its author's obsession over the image and Fame of Janet Jackson and her own need for attention. There was nothing truly intellectually engaging about this story. Its concept and nature is sensationalist and shocking relying on its author to make the moral conclusions for you as opposed to trying to stimulate the reader into a dialectic process. The Author does her best to tell you how you should feel and she does a terrible job. Overall the books sense of twisted morality and victimization gives you the taste of a supermarket rag story rather then a written novel. Its crude and vulgar descriptions of sex acts make it come off like a bad porn novel as opposed to anything truly erotic or sensual. The sex scenes made me want to close the book and toss it out the window instead of feeling the least bit of arousal. There is no description at all during the sex scenes no textured words, no real descriptions of feelings or sentiments. The Sex itself following the sensationalist method of the books nature is there simply to shock you with its vulgar language and the literal textbook descriptions of the acts the characters get involved in. There is nothing even remotely approaching love in this story, it is disturbing and twisted description of obsession on both sides of the equation. Having read many romance novels this book approaches nothing even remotely resembling love, as most people understand it. There was nothing really erotic about the book either even the sex acts seemed more a part of the Authors overall angst then anything else. My final problem with this book involves her use of Computer hacking methods. From someone who is truly computer savvy her descriptions of the methods in which allegedly Janet harasses the character or someone connected to her, are wholly inaccurate and silly. The majority of the things she describes are computer malfunctions and viruses which cannot be simply placed into your computer they must be opened for example through an attachment to a file or email and then run. This character is about as computer savvy as my 80-year-old grandma who barely knows how to work a TV. For the authors sake I hope that the descriptions of fan email addresses and websites are changed to protect the innocent, otherwise this author is looking at some serious legal privacy violations. I know the Miss Janet Chatroom and fanclub really does exist, to publish factual and private information like this whether satirical or not puts the author on very shaky legal ground. Overall this book was an unfortunate piece that did not need to be written and shared with the public. It is a crass and poorly written piece, which more begs the question how the author could have sat through writing all 402 pages and not questioned as to whether or not this was a good idea. I would advise against purchasing this book, if you are a Janet fan I have a feeling this book will leave you feeling disturbed and quite nauseous.

Summary: Chatroom betrayed for THIS??
Review: It has come to our attention that our beloved chat room has become the backdrop for one author's unfortunate attempt to cash in on Janet's notoriety as well as the public's hunger for sensational celebrity stories. Thinly veiled as a work of fiction about a situation between two people intertwined with philosophical presumptions about abuses of social power, this novel is a gross misrepresentation of Janet, our chatroom, and the innocent people who were unknowingly disparaged by the author in this book. Simply put, the author is guilty of exactly what she proclaims to be fighting against. It's important to note that the author befriended real-life people in this story and then victimized and wrote about them without regard to their feelings or privacy, just as she writes was done to her in this book. It depicts some of our most loyal and loved friends and chatters in an unfair and very judgmental light, without even the courtesy of changing their names or other personal information to protect their privacy. However fictional, there are also allegations of Janet committing very serious criminal offenses, such as stalking, wire-tapping and other questionable behavior. The author, who fancies herself to be quite savvy, ruins any credibility she might have had by using the "supporting-cast" because her theories and descriptions about computer hacking are incredibly inaccurate and unsound. The author should have done some homework in these areas. Cover to cover, the book looks cheap and is also very poorly organized between the story itself, e-mails, and computer messages, as well as typos, misspellings and many other factual inaccuracies throughout. I encourage you not to purchase this book, not only because it's very poorly presented, but it is also written in extremely poor taste and judgment.

Review: The book was full of gossip and rumors we have already heard before, with a story written around them. I must admit that the author did have some interesting info that made a lot of since as well as real names and email addresses to back up her 'story'. But, the books reads like an obsessed fan who wanted to take a possible cybersex relationship with the real 'Janet' to a more realistic level, but never got the chance. If you are into internet sex, this is the book for your (very explicit though). Be advised that the author is a fan first. I suggest strong Janet fans not read this book. The cybersex the author claimed she and the celebrity shared will leave you speechless and in confusion about the star.

Review: this book is dumb ass hell and if u got that much time to write a 400 page book about a chat room you dumb as hell to. that's why i rate this book a zero but the lowest is one but the author of this book must be real bored and need to get a life. i recommend nobody buy this dumb ass book.

Review: This story is so far fetched. Many things the author claims in this book, you have to roll your eyes at and just shake you head.
Let me give you some examples:
1) She meets Janet's boyfriend at a Janet concert.
(I highly doubt that Janet's boyfriend would be mingle with any audince member at a Janet concert...unless you have backstage passes) 2) Janet saw her from the stage, "flirted" with her, and later on the net, after she sent one of Janet's employees her picture, Janet IMed her stating "You ARE the bomb"
(Janet sees millions while on tour....I doubt that Janet would remember her [of all people]...because she aint all that.) 3) She was concerned that Janet would find out her address, after she claims that Janet had prank called her, crashed her computer, and tapped her phone line.
(If Janet had the resources to crash your computer, tap your phone, she obviously can find out your address [anyone with your phone number can]) The book was also poorly written...obviously english is the author's second language...most of it is written in ebonics.
Prehaps if she spent less time trying to defame a mega star she could write a decent book....

Summary: Like WHOA!!
Review: Well, because I'm only about-a little over a third ways through this book and because page by page I have yet to say that I dont like lit-I'm gonna give it a 3 for midways thus far. Because I'm such a Janet fan, I'd LOVE to get this author a big fat 1. But as an aspiring writer myself and because I dont want to seem like I'm (whats the word?) "player hating," I am going to have to be fair (for as far as I am in the book) and give it a midways 3, because so far, I am BLOWN AWAY each page and it could get nothing but better (each page) so I'm am noticing... Now, I will say this however, IF this IS a true story-man-shame on (Janet?) I giggle. But IF this author just conjured up this story-then hell, she's a genius but should be shamed of herself. So far though, from what i'm reading and can tell, shame on Janet. ( I love her though-I just didnt think she had it in her, its just giving me a newer side to her that I couldnt have ever imagined she'd have) But, she's still the greatest!

Summary: Not GREAT-But DAMN GOOD!!!!!!
Review: Well. I have to say "not great" because I love Janet Jackson and have always been a fan of hers and I'd love to believe that this whole book IS just fragments of Angela Witterson's imagination-but unfortunately, I dont think it is. If this girl could REALLY just conjure stuff out of her mind like she did in this ? page book (seeing as though she has no page numbers in it), she needs to be getting paid for her imagination rather that telling a story that could possibly hurt Janet. Sorry, but if this book had been about ANYBODY but Janet, I'd say "great AND damn good" but, I dont know, I'm just a bit disappointed in Janet if this IS a true story. But after finally finsihing the book and reading through that busy site of hers, I'm sorry-I'd have to say that it is a true story and a damned good one. I'll tell you what though. I got my eye on her and can't wait to see how this pans out.
My recommendation? Well. I just feel really sorry for this girl and admire her gutts in taking the steps that she did to tell HER side of the story. But I guess what puzzles me is, why haven't we heard anything regarding Janets side? Um, can you spell: G.U.I.L.T.Y?
In 2 words. READ IT and judge for yourself. She writes well (a BIT too detailed/wordy though) but told a damned good story about what I believe, is the truth.
After reading other reveiws on this site, I'd have to say that these are ALL Janet fans who just can't HANDLE the truth and unfortunately, she is sure to get slammed. So if you rely on any public reviews on this and the other sites to decide to read it or not-obviously, you won't because hey-Janet's fans love her.
Me? I do too, but I'm not sick over her.
The authors website was emailed to me this past summer and I made my decision to read it from there.
NICOLES TOP 10 list (review):
1. The girl met Rene (but I question if she REALLY told the truth about what all was said/done)
2. Three years later, Janet noticed her from the stage (the girl shoulda been flattered cause she aint "all that")
3. Janet wanted to meet her. (okay-I'll admit, she is quite interesting)
4. Janet finally got a chance to meet her. (as if SHE was the star-bllrrr!!!)
5. It somehow got back to Janet that Rene and the girl had met three years prior. (the girl probably shoulda told Janet-I'd say).
6. Janet got upset and started stalking the girl via phone and computer/emails and stuff (never knew Janet had it in her to be a Bond girl)
7. During Janets Bond Mission, she got all the girls things and decided that she wanted to pick up where they had left off and call a truce. (makes me wonder if Janet really had a booby trap awaiting the girl)
8. The girl agreed. (sort of)
9. Janet's friends hated the idea that Janet still wanted to (be) friends or with her. (those are the juicy parts of the book)
10. The girl got upset because Janets friends and entouarge kept tabs on everything she did and said. (and the girl seemed to not have minded when you read the book but somehow the site throws me off and now I have to wonder if she and Janet are/were lovers and are now simply FIGHTING...)
I'll close by saying this though: IF it turns out that Angela Witerson DID sleep with Rene and allowed Janet to befriend her and become interested in her, then she needs to be slapped-right with her own book. Because it is very obvious that Janet liked her for so many reasons and it would be a shame if she's hiding something.
That is one thing that the reader will always be curious about. The rest was well explained, well written and well told.
