Summary: Two worlds collide
Review: Susan is an uptight Boston-bred college professor who has moved into a world she knows nothing about - TEXAS. That doesn't mean Susan hasn't formed some very stereotypical opinions of what the people there must be like. Mae is a Texas cowgirl, descended from generations of people who have worked the land and totally in touch with her environment. She also carries the sadness of having lost her partner two years before to a drunk driver and is determined that nothing will ever hurt her like that again. Their worlds collide when Susan gets a flat tire on a country road and Mae offers to change it for her. There is instant chemistry between them, but that won't be enough. Can Susan overcome her prejudices and can Mae let someone else into her heart? The book does a good job of developing the story, though, as an easterner, I did get a little tired of the emphasis on the snooty easterners who turned up their noses at the hicks from the south. It was an entertaining book to read however.
